Assam University Teachers’ Association (AUTA) celebrated its Foundation Day with a grand and inspiring event on August 21, 2024.
The celebration began on an auspicious note with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, felicitation, and a Saraswati Vandana, invoking the blessings of the goddess of knowledge. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by the General Secretary of AUTA, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings.
The event saw several distinguished speakers taking the stage, including senior faculty members who shared their wisdom and insights with the gathering.
The day’s highlights included thoughtful reflections by senior teachers on AUTA’s journey from modest beginnings. The Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Prof. R. M. Pant, delivered an inspiring address on “Know Thyself,” commending AUTA’s efforts in fostering a strong academic and progressive environment. Registrar Dr. P. K. Nath also spoke, emphasizing AUTA’s growing role in Assam University’s development. AUTA President Dr Sengupta enriched the gathering with reflective anecdotes on the vital role of teachers, reaffirming AUTA’s mission to honour their academic contributions and push for timely CAS promotions, rounding off the formal addresses.
The event concluded with a communal lunch, which promoted camaraderie among attendees. It was followed by a vibrant cultural program that highlighted the university’s diverse heritage and talent.
